The annual San Carlos festival (Fiestas de Sant Carlos) celebrations for 2016 are now underway with a series of exciting events running from now until 20 November. Expect more than a month of celebrations to come with a programme that brings you great music, culture and sporting dates.
Look out for the deeply hippy Flower Power party on 31 October in the church square the night before the village's patron saint's day. The saint's day, known as the day of San Carlos (1 November) sees a classic car and antique motorcycle display from 10.30 h. Then at 12.30 h there will be a traditional display of Ball Pages folk dancing and in the evening at 21 h, Eivi-Dance, a local group will be putting on a more contemporary dance display.
The night then goes on with the musical duo Mashup, which will be playing popular and evergreen music. To conclude there will be a display of correfocs, people dressed as devils chasing away evil spirits with fireworks.
Another day full of festivities will be on 4 November with more Ball Pages folk dance and a tasting of local products from 13.30 h. In the evening there will be a free concert from Erisalsa with salsa, bachata and merengue rhythms amongst others with the day rounding off with a demonic correfoc display.
