Once only accessible by sea, the villas of Cala San Vicente offer a tranquility second to none and Can Marge is a perfect example of such luxury.

If you are looking for a complete "get away from it all" holiday in Ibiza, then Can Marge could well be the villa for you.

Located in the unspoiled countryside near to Cala San Vicente, at first glance it may seem that Can Marge is far away from the airport but don't let that put you off. It is, in fact, only a forty minute car journey, a distance that most people think nothing about commuting every day to work…and certainly not through such stunningly beautiful scenery.

You can enjoy total tranquility during your stay here, with no shops or bars nearby to disturb the peace, and yet, just 3 km away is Cala San Vicente with its restaurants and supermarkets, and the bigger towns of San Carlos and Santa Eulalia are within easy reach at just 6 km and 15 km respectively.

Whilst its official age is not known, Can Marge is at least two hundred years old. It has always belonged to the same family, being passed down through the generations and often with two or three generations sharing the house at the same time.

The grandfather of the current owner was the local blacksmith for San Vicente, San Juan and San Carlos, and he also repaired all of the farm equipment in the area. What was his workroom is now the present kitchen. As was common in those days on Ibiza, the family cultivated their own land, and would breed animals and fish for their own consumption.

Up until the middle of the twentieth century, there was no road, and so San Vicente was accessible only by foot or by sea. The whole village was therefore self-sufficient, consuming what they made themselves and selling charcoal, which they sent by sea, to the port in Ibiza.

It is interesting to note that at the beginning of the twentieth century, before there was a school or even teachers on Ibiza, the children of the San Vicente area were taught to read and write by the Punta Grossa lighthouse-keepers.

From its origins as a very basic house, Can Marge is now completely reformed whilst still maintaining its fundamental structure. The ceilings are made of the beautifully-scented Sabina wood and the walls are a staggering 80 cm thick. The barbecue and swimming pool area are completely new, and other modern conveniences in this traditional rustic finca include WiFi and a jacuzzi.

You are assured a personal touch whilst staying at Can Marge, with the owners being on hand twenty-four hours per day throughout your holiday.
