Thanks to good old San Antonio with its enormous fiesta programme January hasn't taken an eternity to pass. The fun and games are still in full swing throughout February with some good live music and bands at the weekends in the marquee. Visitors to the town last week were surprised to see the famous Columbus egg monument decorated with a face and Mohican crest to publicise the 80's night in the town.
The other big fiesta on the island takes place in Santa Eulalia this month when the 12th is the pivotal point of a long celebration with music, feasting and dancing to celebrate the patron saint's day. Keep an eye on our news section for details of the so far unreleased programme of events.
My personal favourite saint's day, St. Valentine's, takes place on the 14th February which gives me the chance to spend bucketloads of money on roses, chocolates and a meal out – all at premium for a day prices!
Cheaper eating out options are still available with the two economy gastronomy schemes still in progress, Degusta, Heritage Gastronomy, and San Antonio's world famous Pintxa tapas fest featuring around 50 bars starts on 16th February (more news when we get it)
Finally, we celebrate the Mardi Gras Carnival around the island this month with the main parades featuring thousands of people taking place on 19th in Ibiza town and 21st in San Antonio and Santa Eulalia. It's great fun for young and old when nearly everyone dons fancy dress and joins in the fun. Don't miss it!
