Bloop Proactive Arts Festival returns to Ibiza

Seventeen days of interactive discovery starts on Thursday 23 August 2018 with the theme of "hope".

Ibiza's very own modern arts festival, Bloop is back for the eighth year running. The series of events starts on Thursday 23 August 2018, running for 17 days until Friday 7 September. Free to attend, the self-styled pro-active art festival encourages public interaction. This year's theme is "hope".

With a suggestion that the optimism of hope has dimmed in recent years, the festival aims to provoke conscious debate through a series of murals, virtual reality simulators, installations, children's workshops and more traditional exhibits.

Picking out a few highlights from the 17 days, at Bloop's Ibiza Town harbour HQ you will find scenes taken straight from science-fiction. It will feature boundary-pushing contribution from renowned artists, including Silva Ramacchi, Pineapple Crocodile and K24.

Along the town's promenade you will discover a very special exhibit that you will need to listen too as well as look at. Curious? Then head down to the seafront and get involved.

You may well have noticed and already be familiar with Bloop's many past contributions to the island. Eagle-eyed visitors might have spotted the vast murals and urban art of the Open Air Gallery dotted all over the island. Said Dokins & SpY are on hand to supply new street art for 2018.

Fun for the whole family, if you're visiting Ibiza during this period then the events are well worth checking out. Following on from last year, technology has a increasingly prominent role to play in this year's festival.
