Making it an event at Las dos Lunas

The famous iconic Ibiza restaurant is increasingly popular as a location for special events and now its owners are rising to meet demand.

Thirty-seven years have passed since Massimo Lucarini and Almudena Robles took over a countryside antique shop, on what was then still a small road linking Ibiza and San Antonio, to make their home and create their famous Italian Restaurant, Las Dos Lunas.

The Lucarini family now want to share the iconic space that is this famous restaurant with people who want to use it as a venue for hosting special events.

Whilst many know it as an exclusive dining experience, much demand has come from diners to hold weddings or family celebrations. And indeed, the venue is large and flexible enough to do so, at the same time, retaining a certain intimacy and privacy.

Space, elegance and style

Cocktails at your service

The spacious terrace, cocktail bar and indoor dining room can be used separately or entirely, according to the clients' needs. Parties of up to 100 are the optimum and sound volume is not really an issue due to the restaurant's unique, private location

The restaurant has been known as a haunt of both the rich and famous and many celebrities who over the years have been seen rubbing shoulders with the hippest island faces around as they prepared to venture out into the night.

It perhaps this history and the special cachet that Las dos Lunas possesses that is contributing to the demand for its use as a venue for special occasions. Sheltered discreetly behind high walls of rustic Ibiza stone and steeped in Ibiza folklore, it is a venue unlike any other.

a truly romantic location

Love is in the air at this wonderful setting

Under the shade of blooming bougainvillea and climbing vines, Las dos Lunas makes an undeniably romantic location. Born from the romance of a young girl on holiday from Madrid falling in love with a handsome Italian fashionista, their story has become a place where romance, fashion and art collide.

Parties can be catered for with either a buffet, complete with tapas-style portions of a selection of their menu favourites, such as prawn and pesto linguine, or Cotoletta Milanese; or, with a set menu to the clients' personal taste. Previous private events have included live music, traditional flamenco dancers and a magician among their repertoire and it is even possible to dance the night away in the cocktail lounge, courtesy of the zoned music installation by sound engineer son, Lupo.

As a true family business, everyone has a role to play and Massimo and Almudena are gently releasing control to their younger generation. Siblings Lupo and Luna, are learning all aspects of the hospitality trade in order to preserve their family legacy.

Food "nonna" used to make

One of the pasta dishes, made fresh daily

Meanwhile, the link with fashion remains strong as sister Giada runs an on-site Bohemian boutique, brimming with garments inspired by her worldwide travels and, in particular, the beautiful islands of Ibiza and Bali.

Tradition has been the key to the success of Las Dos Lunas. The basic menu has changed little over the decades and represents a mix of the popular Italian recipes ‘that “Nonna”, or grandma used to make' with a few Mediterranean and Spanish touches.

Simple recipes, prepared to the highest of standards, are the theme: pasta is hand made fresh every day with the best ingredients; very exclusive rice is imported from Tuscany to prepare the risottos and veal is sourced from a secret supplier for the meat dishes and escalopes.

fresh and seasonal

All dishes are complemented by fruit and vegetables freshly picked from its own kitchen garden, tended by Massimo and the gardener. Every day there are special dishes to add a little variety; one pasta, a risotto and a meat dish. The synergy of tradition and fresh seasonal produce is typified by one of today's specials: hand-picked courgette-flower risotto.

This year the family is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Rossini with a number of themed dishes on the menu as well as a new Champagne cocktail all in honour of the Italian composer.

Private individuals, event co-ordinators and wedding planners should take note and seek out Las dos Lunas for the most special of special events for a day or night to remember.
