A guide to BBC Radio 1 Ibiza Weekend 2018

All the details you need to know about one of the hottest weekends of the Ibiza season.

With the peak of the summer quickly approaching, one weekend appropriately marks this peak of the season with a massive celebration. It is, of course, the BBC Radio 1 Ibiza weekend. This series of parties sees some of our favourite DJ hosts on the island plus some very special guests.

BBC Radio 1 has been a keystone within the clubbing and electronic music industry for decades bringing avid listeners the latest and greatest music through the airwaves year after year. Hosts like Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Danny Howard and many others have introduced us to DJ talent and banging beats from around the world.

For the 2018 edition, the festivities take place from Friday 3 August to Sunday 5 August across four star-studded parties. Over the weekend you get a double dose of the iconic sunset bar and venue Café Mambo with the R1 family setting up a beachside stage there.

Then on Saturday, choose from two sizzling daytime takeover events. Fancy a stomp to underground dance floor bangers? Then get yourself down to the BBC Radio 1 takeover of ANTS at Ushuaïa.

Alternatively, if urban beats are your flavour then hit Ibiza Rocks Hotel for the BBC Radio 1 Xtra Ibiza Takeover.

Friday 3 August | BBC Radio 1 at Café Mambo | San Antonio 19:00 - Midnight

Café Mambo is undoubtedly one of the most iconic places to take in those unforgettable Ibiza golden sunsets. Every evening this venue is packed to the rafters with holidaymakers and island dwellers coming to enjoy wicked pre-parties by some of the White Isle's hottest clubbing brands.

BBC Radio 1 rolls into San Antonio for its annual Ibiza pilgrimage on Friday 3 August bringing some scorching DJ talent with them. This line-up has the big R1 family trio of Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Danny Howard taking up deck duties.

They are joined by Grammy nominees CamelPhat, who currently holding down a residency with Eric Prydz on Tuesdays at Hï Ibiza. Edible boss and Bristol lad Eats Everything is also coming to smash it out along with MK, Jax Jones and Patrick Topping.

Women DJ power will be present also in the form of B.Traits, La Fleur and Cassy, all bringing their unique sounds to the rave table. Lastly offering up a switch up in electronic style for the tune hungry crowd will Denis Sulta and Mella Dee.

Saturday 4 August | BBC Radio 1 at ANTS | Ushuaïa |
15:00 - Midnight

When one of Ibiza's best daytime parties meets one of the world's top dance music radio stations you have a recipe for success. That's exactly what's happening on Saturday 4 August when the R1 team joins forces with the ANTS party colony.

Starting from 15:00 and running until midnight, get ready for an afternoon and evening of smashing club tunes and production. Within the walls of the plush Ushuaïa hotel venue, you can party the Saturday away soaking up the sun to unbeatable underground beats.

Looking at the line-up, clubbers are in for a real treat. King of ANTS Andrea Oliva goes back to back with Pete Tong, joined by crowd favourites Camelphat. Another big b2b set sees Warriors chief Steve Lawler mix it up side by side with Nic Fanciulli.

Manchester lads and Söla label heads, Solardo will smash out their distinctive tech house sound. Finally, lovely ladies Eli & Fur will also share the stage with renowned producer Maya Jane Coles.

This Playa d'en Bossa super venue will no doubt be energised with top-notch music and an electric atmosphere. That's for sure.

Saturday 4 August | BBC Radio 1 Xtra Ibiza Takeover | Ibiza Rocks Hotel | 14:00 - Midnight

As "the home of the pool party" in Ibiza, Ibiza Rocks Hotel is an ideal location for the BBC Radio 1 Xtra Ibiza Takeover. Storming through the season with its own afternoon parties, it hosts this special event on Saturday 4 August.

Charlie Sloth, Dotty and DJ Target will be your hosts for this afternoon jam alongside a huge list of rap and grime stars from the UK urban scene. From the R1 family, radio show hosts MistaJam, DJ Charlesy and Sian Anderson will be dropping fire from the DJ booth.

Expect exceptional performances from UK stars the likes of Bugzy Malone, Wretch 32 and Steel Banglez. Also taking to the poolside stage will be B Young, Kojo Funds, Lady Leshurr, Lotto Boyzz, Nines, Not3s, Ray BLK and RAYE.

Ahead of this urban daytime party spectacular, Charlie Sloth commented, "Ibiza has changed a lot over the last five years with rap and grime being embraced on the island in a huge way. So 1Xtra making its first appearance at the legendary Ibiza Rocks is huge and crazy exciting!”

Sunday 5 August | BBC Radio 1 at Café Mambo | San Antonio | 19:00 - Midnight

On Sunday 5 August, a new batch of killer talent hit the stage for round two of the Café Mambo R1 parties. Dance show hosts Annie Mac, Benji B and Monki will serve up a barrage of fiery tunes for the weekender crowd. Mark Ronson will be playing ahead of his Club Heartbreak set at Pikes later that evening.

Showing off their deck skills also are Cassius, Krystal Klear, Purple Disco Machine and rising star Octavian. There is also a surprise in store for all dance music fans as there is one undisclosed very special guest spot own the line-up yet to be revealed. Stay tuned!
