Every year, and this is the thirteenth, the Art Club of Ibiza publishes a guide to all the artists who make up its membership so that the public can visit them in their studios. Called the Ruta del Arte, this year's edition contains information about 92 artists from all over the world who have made Ibiza their home and their workplace.
The idea of the guide which comes in both magazine form and as an iPad app, is to encourage visitors to the artists themselves, and also to Ibiza and its hidden corners. Many of the painters and sculptors in the Art Club live in some beautiful, quiet, secluded areas of the island which maybe would remain unknown to the vast majority of tourists without this guide.
The guide, in both forms, costs only a few Euros and is full of information, maps, photos of the artists and their works and would make a nice addition to any urban coffee table (not the app, obviously.) All that the artists ask is that would be visitors phone in advance to make an appointment – easy, isn't it?
To kick off this year's artistry, there's an exhibition taking place as from 26th May to 5th June at the Congress palace in Santa Eulalia. Open from 10:00 to 13:30 and 17:00 to 20:00 it's free to enter and there'll be plenty of Ruta del Arte mags on sale.
If art inspires you, then you'll want to visit the magical setting of Santa Gertrudis church square on the nights of full moon during the summer when the plaza is home to a market and open air exhibition of the artists' works. It takes place from 19:00 to midnight on 28th June, 30th July, 28th August and 27th September 2015 and has musical entertainment as well as close proximity to a great choice of bars and restaurants.
See you there?
