Know this; Know Ibiza - Editor's Choice, 26th July

The parties, the things to do, the places to stay, the food to enjoy - we've got it all and more. Know this; know Ibiza.

Feel Good. Looking at the week just enjoyed on the island there is no one common denominator except... an amazing feel good factor. This picture above, taken this week, is a prime example. I sat here, in this market area at the entrance of Dalt Vila (Ibiza Town) having a leisurely breakfast, as the morning sun quietly rose to start the day. Simply blissful.

However, before I point out some key bargains and tips of the week, make sure you don't miss Stivi's Club News this week (below) - Ibiza Spotlight have some pretty cool news!

Back to the week...

Event to know.

Firstly, there was an 'alternative' event to explore. A gathering on a campsite beside Cala Martina (Es Cana) in which a young man combined music therapy, exercise, visualization and reiki into one extraordinary evening. Check out "Feel More than Fine" right here and pop along - the events are 'by donation' and both children & adults enjoyed themselves.

Restaurant of the Week

Much of San Antonio seems purpose built for island visitors. Modern, comfortable, convenient. However, tucked away but not hard to find, there are some real gems - their history alone testimony to their calibre. So it was that I had lunch this week at a restaurant that has been going for 50 years! If meat or fish is your thing, this is your restaurant - El Viejo Gallo ("The Old Cock")

Special: Car Hire

I also had family and friends visiting me on the island this week. This meant organising things like car hire. Sadly, hiring a car can be fraught with 'small print' and some really eye-raising 'additional charges'. Keen to not get caught out - recently friends of mine were - I looked at some of the tricks of the game and searched for companies that were both above board and provided great customer service. Read all about that here - incl our recommendations. By the way, for those curious, I do actually pay for my moped and car hire on the island - these aren't freebies to tempt me into writing nice things! ;-)

Special: Deep Tissue Massage - Home Visit

I was still feeling rather good from my deep tissue massage from Victoria the week before. This young lady can be booked to visit Villa, Hotel and Apartment on the island and if you really need some stresses easing out of your system, I highly recommend her.

Looking Ahead

Atzaro Beach Bar Full Moon Celebration

Looking ahead, I'm very curious about a Full Moon Ceremony at the new Atzaro Beach Bar, 2nd August. Whilst Atzaro themselves haven't got anything online yet about this event I can tell you that the evening, including dinner and promising to be informative, is for islanders and visitors alike. Starting at 8pm-ish & priced around 40 euros a head I'll be there - long a fan of how spectacular the Full Moon is (especially when she lights up the beautiful waters surrounding our island!) and keen to know more. Look out for details, coming soon!

Ibiza Spotlight Recommendations.

To help tempt you to visit us, the team have again found some superb accommodation choices for you (and at the end Stivi has his clubbing recommendations to make sure you know THE best parties to be at!) Enjoy!

Hotel of the Week.

Hotel Argos - gorgeous! If you're thinking of a September break, book now!

"Looking for a beach-front location within easy reach of the action? You step out of the 4-star Argos Hotel straight onto the Talamanca beach but you're only a short stroll from the trendy Marina Botafoch and Pacha. The rooms have just been completely renovated and now offer a high standard of modern comfort. A real must is the 10-minute ferry ride right into the heart of the Ibiza marina with its miriad of bars, terraces and restaurants."

Villa of the Week.

Ok, just bear with me on this - I'm a bit floored. Check out Cana Pili Villa. It has pretty much everything and in October (the weather's still gorgeous and there's a heap of great Closing Parties to go to) yourself & up to 12 friends can stay for ... 200 euros a week, per person! This degree of luxury at that price? Wow!

Club News of the Week.

"I finally got to check out Marco Carola's new night at Amnesia, Music On last Friday. Very recommendable for everyone loving those straight repetitive 4 to the floor techno beats. We Love on Sunday was also great - and more melodic, not least because of Miss Kittin who, as usually, grabbed the mic and started singing live over the tracks she played - love it!

Looking at the week ahead, on Friday (27th July) there's going to be a very special and unique event: We are launching our first album! Yay! It's mixed by Ibiza legend DJ Alfredo and his son Jaime Fiorito. Everyone is invited to come down to Boutique Hostal Salinas from 7:30pm to celebrate with us! Of course Alfredo and Jaime will be there as well, spinning some nice tunes. See you there?!

Apart of that, I'll try to save up some energy for the season climax - BBC Radio 1 Weekend next weekend. But read more about that next week."

For and on behalf of Ibiza Spotlight, we would like to wish James Ledden, Director, a very happy birthday for this week and wish all of you a fantastic weekend!
