The new year brings yet another economy gastronomy scheme to the island, and this time it's the turn of Ibiza town's restaurants to step up to the plate. Thirteen restaurants have banded together to produce three course meals for €20 (drinks not included) on a theme of the cuisine from the UNESCO World Heritage Cities. So, included will be menus from the culinary capitals of the Spanish regions and other parts of the world.
There's a PDF available of all the restaurants, addresses, phone numbers, menus and days when Heritage Gastronomy is available but here's a summary to give you a flavour (restaurant name – Heritage site)
S´Ametller – Tarragona, La Marina – Burgos, El Cigarral – Toledo, La Tagliatella – Italy, Hostal Talamanca – Catalonia, La Cava – Segovia, Sa Caldera – Santiago de Compostela, Ca n´Alfredo – Ibiza, El Rincón del Puerto – Ibiza, Soul – Ibiza, Sa Nansa – Ibiza, Ke Kafe – Vietnam and Sa Botiga – Morocco.
The scheme kicks off tomorrow, Friday 13th, and lasts until February 19th and is the perfect way to sample food from unfamiliar areas of both Spain and the world. The menus all look delicious, and the food from the big, cold cities on the Spanish Meseta is ideal for freezing winter's nights, I don't know where to go first!
