Followers of our Spotlight News tweets on Twitter already know that Ibiza's Museum of Contemporary Art (MACE) in Dalt Vila recently reopened after five years of renovation work. Today - International Museum day – it's been announced that over 2000 people have been to see the exhibitions there since late April.
I need to get there myself as one of my favourite artists is featured; Miquel Barcelo, from Felanitx in Mallorca whose stunning altar backdrop can be seen in a side chapel of Palma Cathedral. The other main exhibition is by Welsh sculptor Barry Flanagan, famous for his bronze statues of hares, who died in Ibiza in 2009.

Yesterday, the museum was paid an official visit by no less a person than the British Ambassador to Spain, Giles Paxman, who really is the brother of BBC journalist Jeremy Paxman, during a brief visit to Ibiza.
