Last year the Ibiza Ibiza Corso Hotel & Spa which overlooks the Marina Botafoch from its Talamanca vantage point was treated to an almost total makeover. It's rooms, bars and pool area took on a new look that was modern, clean, almost minimal yet totally relaxing.
This year the total update has been completed throughout the whole hotel which opens its doors for the season on 15th April 2011 – just in time for Easter.
This second phase of renovation has included all the bathrooms, reception, the lobby bar and one or two new surprises. Design led it has been, and dare we say design with style? The Lobby Bar for example, which already benefits from huge terraces with superb views of Ibiza Cathedral and Castle, has a 'crocodile' floor and tables by design guru Philippe Starck!
However it's not just the look of the Ibiza Corso that's changed, the whole philosophy of the place has been revamped too. It's no longer just a place to stay – it's an 'events' hotel.
Take the Panoramic Restaurant for example, now equipped with today's sexiest commodity, an open kitchen, culinary theatre at its best, which welcomes clients into the whole dining experience like a dinner party at a friend's.
Add to this the opening of the new Ibiza Station Club, a multi-space area with 7 bars, a 50's style snack bar, VIP lounge, parties, DJ's and performances and it's clear that the Ibiza Corso offers far more than many other hotels.
But there's one more surprise. It's, tah-dah,The Flower Power Chapel – a bar come chapel where guests can have a drink, confess, get married – in which the space can be arranged to accommodate large or small functions and the décor can be changed to suit the theme of the ceremonies.
The Ibiza Corso Hotel & Spa certainly had many attractions previously, stylish décor, little touches of luxury like silk sheets, a super modern Spa and gym and a great location with superb views just a water taxi ride from Ibiza town. Now it offers so much more and it's just a few clicks away online.
