TV reception has always been a bit iffy in Ibiza, but now that the old analogue system has been replaced by the digital TDT system, reception has got even worse.
People living near the coast have found that the picture on their 50” plasma screens has faded from view. TDT technicians on the island say that this is caused by high summer temperatures, humidity and the 'mirror effect' of the sea. The name they give to this phenomenon is 'fading.'
Apparently, this happened on analogue systems but not to such a degree as with digital. Irate viewers complained that they suffered 'fading' during the recent World Cup (which Spain won) and had to go out to a bar to watch the matches on satellite TV!
We've simulated how this could spoil your favourite programme in our photo above. Here's B. A. Baracus from The A Team, just about to get the welding gear out – but what special weaponry or vehicle did he concoct from an old vacuum cleaner and air conditioning unit? We'll never know unless we wait a couple of hours for the programme to be repeated on another channel!
