What could be worse than being on one of Ibiza's many beaches and not being able to go in for a refreshing dip because the sea is full of pesky jellyfish?
Thanks to the Ministry of the Environment occasions like these may well be a thing of the past this year. They've come to an agreement with the Fishermen's Associations of the Balearic Islands which
will see their boats off our coasts specifically fishing for these trouble-making creatures.
The government will pay each boat – there'll be 16 in total - €600 a day plus an extra €1.50 for every kilo of jellyfish captured in their nets. The cull will last 4 months starting
in June and will use boats which can get close to the shore where the jellyfish are at their most dangerous.
Now that is good news!
