After two false starts, and only a few hours official notice, Cream managed to pull off one of the opening parties of the season on Thursday 5 July.
It had been a tough few weeks for everyone involved with Cream – from the promoters wanting to throw the party, to the legions of fans looking forward to one of the most exciting club nights of Ibiza.
So on a night of shaky nerves and high expectations, the pressure was on to make this a very special event indeed.
Realistically however, there was no need to worry.
Once the word was spread, there was no doubt that this would be massive - Cream has been putting on first-rate parties in Ibiza for over 10 years.
Heading inside Amnesia around 2am and it’s like you’ve never been away, the heaving main room casting a mystical spell and drawing wide-eyed clubbers inside.
Already packed – but always with room for one more – the main room is where the trance is played out, and boy does the crowd love it.
Tonight, of course there was an extra buzz about the place.
Not for the first time, Eddie Halliwell was the star of the show and in the early hours played out a driving set to keep the crowd moving.
A Cream performance with Eddie typically ends the same way – with 1,000’s of clubbers chanting his name at the end of the night, begging for one more tune.
In only his second season as resident, Eddie is fast becoming a Cream hero and a clubbing icon in the making.
The terrace as ever is where you will find the quality house music and, whilst still playing out to a busy dancefloor, this is where the dancing space can be found.
A new addition for the terrace this year is a stunning laser display, which accompanied a lively house set from Kissy Sell Out.
So, now that the party is finally up and running, what’s next for Cream ?
Well, how about an extended 5 hour set from Paul van Dyk and a jumping back-to-back session with top house duo Axwell & Ingrosso to get you started ?
If that sounds like something you just might enjoy, then head down to Amnesia for Cream on Thursday 12 July.
