In the near future visitors to Ibiza will be able to walk, both easily and comfortably, the full length of San Antonio's coastline bordering the Bay of Portmany.
The environmental council have just put two contracts out to tender which will improve and enhance the existing promenade (Paseo Maritimo) and build a new boardwalk to Cala Gració.
About €1.1 million will be spent taking up the concrete (too porous) from the 'old' paseo and replacing it with tiles, and providing more garden areas and benches where strollers can contemplate what are truly magnificent views from the coast.
The rest of the cash will be spent constructing a 2.5 KM wooden boardwalk from the centre of town right round the coast to the lovely cove of Cala Gració. Again there will be benches, low level illumination and ramps will be strategically placed for disabled people to access the boardwalk.
We think that this is an ideal development for San Antonio, whose coastline really is wonderful, if not a little rugged. Everyone will now have the chance to meander by the sea on clear sunny days or warm balmy evenings as the sun goes down.
