Ibiza Cave Improvements

One of our lesser-known tourist attractions is benefiting from a series of improvements

One of our lesser-known tourist attractions is benefiting from a series of improvements and will be open to the public again on the 15th of April.

The Cueva de Es Culleram at Cala San Vicente is having a new lighting system installed and will have piped music which will enable visitors, in quiet moments of contemplation, to imagine just how the cave was 2500 years ago. At that time it was used by the Phoenicians as a shrine to the Goddess Tanit, whose job description included responsibility for life, death, health, and fertility.

The cave, which at 200 metres above sea level has spectacular views out to sea, required a helicopter to fly in the generator to provide the power for the lights. If you're in Ibiza, do try to visit the cave as it's a fascinating insight into the island's history.
