A massive fleet left our shores this weekend heading for landfall on the peninsula. As in previous years the end of August marks the finish of the traditional period of Spanish holidays when people make their way home.
Ferries were packed, nearly every seat and cabin reserved well beforehand, over 1800 cars were squeezed into the lower decks, and air tickets to the big cities were hard to obtain.
In total 70,000 Spanish left Ibiza over the last few days giving the transport companies some good practice for the next big exodus in October when all the seasonal workers return home for the winter.
