Last year we ran a story in which Guardia Civil sources claimed that Ibiza's roads were amongst the slippiest in all Spain. Stopping distances for braking cars were much longer than on the peninsula and this was causing more accidents.
Well, the good news is that the Island Council is to splash out €325,000 to have a special non-slip surface applied to the roads at the island's traffic black spots which makes slowing down (what's that? - Ed) easier and safer. The work will take 3 months and will no doubt take place in the height of the summer season.
