The Chips are Down

It's strange how a seemingly innocent event in one place can have far reaching repercussions

It's strange how a seemingly innocent event in one place can have far reaching repercussions thousands of miles away. Take our unseasonable and unusual cold snap which actually saw snow fall on Ibiza's high ground for about 20 minutes - who would have thought that this would have dire consequences for the Great British chip eating masses?

Well, tons of spuds were made inedible by the high winds and cold in Santa Eulalia, and most of them should have been bound for Britain where this type of potato is considered ideal for chipping.

For any Americans reading, a chip is a French fry and we would have used this term if we had been able to work it into a funny headline.
