The Port Authorities have just announced that they are finally going to build a new maritime station for the ferry port in Ibiza town. The ferry companies have long urged the authorities to sort out the lamentable situation at the harbour where few modern facilities such as waiting rooms and proper embarking/disembarking methods exist.
The new station, costing of €2 million, will provide offices and waiting areas, and will hopefully ease the mass-scrum-on-the-quayside situation which occurs when a large 800-seat ferry docks.
Sadly the new plans mean that popular local danceteria Blues will go out of existence, and will no doubt be missed by thousands of young Ibicencos.
