The end of the year always has our local statisticians working overtime to come up with the extremely interesting and the downright mundane. This is what they brought us for 2003:
* The most marriages on the islands take place in September. The least popular 'getting married' months are August, the hottest, and January, the coldest.
* Most marriages break up in December and January as a result of the so called 'Christmas Syndrome'
* There are now 107,394 inhabitants of Ibiza (99,933) and Formentera (7,461)
* Over 53,000 visits were made to the Urgency unit of Ibiza's only hospital.
* Ibiza is still covered by 31,107 hectares of forest, which represents 48% of the total area.
