This year's census has revealed some interesting statistics in cosmopolitan Ibiza town. Though small by many standards, our tiny capital city of 43,700 inhabitants includes residents from 75 other countries in its population.
Number one in the list of nationalities is of course the Spanish, with 35,685, followed way behind in second place by 2,294 Ecuadorians. Down the list come the Moroccans (996), Argentineans (746), and Italians (591).
However there are 40 countries represented by less than 10 people each, such as Mali, North Korea, Congo, and New Zealand. The fact that many immigrants from the third world arrive here to find work to support their families in their home country has distorted the gender ratio of the population.
Amongst the Spanish residents the male/female ratio is 17865/17820, almost equal, whilst in the population as a whole it is 22320/21446, a marked difference.
