Sources in the Guardia Civil claim that the quality of the tarmac on Ibiza's roads is so poor in comparison to roads on the mainland that more accidents are caused here than elsewhere.
Speaking officially at the trial of two men accused of killing a young girl moped rider through dangerous driving, the Guardia said that high speed caused the accident.
He later added that in Ibiza it takes 60 metres to brake to a stop when travelling at 90Kmh, whereas on the peninsula the stopping distance is 40 metres, the possible distance between life and death?
