Monday, September 22nd will be a reminder to residents of Ibiza of the 'bad old days' of 50 years ago when there were hardly any cars on the road.

That's the day chosen as the 'Day without cars' when Ibiza's main square and several of the streets surrounding it will be closed to automotive traffic from 10 in the morning until 8pm. During this time happy citizens will be able to watch clowns, take part in workshops, and use the bikes put at the disposal of the public by the town hall to meander the empty streets.

Meanwhile thousands of frustrated motorists will be attempting to arrive at their place of work through the chaos of clogged roads, as the town's most important traffic junction is indisposed for the day.
