What a difference a year makes. Only 12 months ago we had the sad duty of reporting that August 2002 was the wettest August for many a year.
Now we are happy to redress the balance! This August has been the hottest ever. Not only that, but the average temperatures experienced throughout the four months May to August have been the highest in over 100 years, and were respectively 1.5, 4, 2.8, and 3.7 degrees above normal.
Our chart shows the actual temperatures for this year as compared to the normal average.
