Statistics published this week show that anybody who likes counting cars should head for the 'Macdonald's' roundabout just outside Ibiza town to pursue their unusual hobby.
This area has the heaviest flow of traffic on the island with an average of 30,731 vehicles passing every day. Second spot on the heavy traffic charts is occupied by the 'SYP' area on the Ibiza - Santa Eulalia road, with 29,995 vpd.
At 3 is the first roundabout on the road to San Antonio, fourth spot is the airport road at San Jordi, and fifth, the Hipercentro on the San Antonio road. Meanwhile, marine authorities have declared that the area of Es Freus and s'Espalmador on the maritime 'highway' to Formentera is the 'Macdonald's Roundabout' of the high seas with a dangerously high level of daily boat traffic.
