The Balearic Islands have the dubious honour of being the place where more skin cancers are registered than anywhere else in the world.
The Spanish Association Against Cancer says that over 750 new cases appear every year but stresses that none need be fatal if the correct treatment is administered early enough.
Their campaign 'Don't play with fire' advises people about the risks of ultra violet radiation, which apparently is very high in the Balearics, oscillating between 7 and 9 on a scale of 10! So slap on plenty of good protection when you arrive for your holidays.
