The cost of lounging is set to increase dramatically if the Balearic Government has its way.
The tale began when it was announced that the number of 'hamacas' or sun-loungers on Las Salinas beach had to be reduced because of the possible damage to the environment they might cause. Of course the reaction from the people who hire the hamacas that they wouldn't be able to make a living was predictable enough.
The Govern's proposal - double the hire price from €4 to €8 - will
no doubt have whole families flocking to the beach to unburden themselves of their
hard-earned holiday money. Somehow, we think a compromise will be reached.
