It's certainly been a week to remember for the crew of the racing yacht 'La Maison de l´Eléphant.'
By an incredible stroke of luck the boat, which was formerly owned by Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, was delayed in its departure from Ibiza en route to Barcelona to compete in the Ruta de la Sal race. This vital delay saved the lives of two young people whose boat, the 'Luz' had capsized on the eastern side of the island for the 'Eléphant' was able to rescue them, being in the same vicinity at the same time. Tragically, it was too late for a third person on the Luz, a young female lawyer from San Antonio, who died from hypothermia in the cold seas.
The story has a happier ending because 'La Maison de l´Eléphant won the Ruta de la Sal race on the section from Barcelona to Ibiza! With over 300 boats racing in two sections from both Denia and Barcelona to Ibiza, it is Spain's biggest annual yachting event. All in all, we are sure that this is a week that the crew of the Elephant will never forget!
