Closing parties are no longer , but a reality within touching distance. September on Ibiza is a period that promises knowledgeable crowds and phenomenal parties. Thankfully, last month produced some cracking new releases to go with them.
Best believe the island's DJs will be pulling out all the stops to make their last few parties on the island special - so expect to hear these and more as we're treated to an influx of new music.
Between jamming in Pacha's main room to the disco toilets at Hï Ibiza - and everywhere in between - me and the team have picked up a few standout releases from the month of August.
Jamie Jones & Darius Syrossian | Rushing | Defected | 9 August
Belonging to Defected Records, this bass-heavy track is a combined effort of DJ compadres Jamie Jones and Darius Syrossian. Hard to believe these two guys used to compete with each other for the Wednesday night underground crowd on the island.
We wouldn't expect anything less than an absolute head banger from these established island heads. Keep your ears pricked for this tech house tune that is sure to do the rounds at closing parties such as Paradise, BODYWORKS, ABODE - and of course, Defected itself.
Adana Twins feat Glowal | My Computer | Diynamic | 16 August
Adana Twins are the latest act from the Diynamic house to be given with the Portrait treatment. Not quite an album, but so much more than an EP, the series aims to give a bold reflection on the featured artist.
This is the highlight of the package - and one of a number of current tracks that showcases a distinct 80s revival creeping back into popularity. Like this? Make sure you also check-out Soulwax's remix of Work It and Eagles & Butterflies' Can't Stop.
Patrick Topping | Turbo Time | Trick | 9 August
Loveable tech house champion, Patrick Topping, has yet again delivered with a pummelling track worthy of shaking every dance floor. Posing as the second release on his brand new label Trick, Turbo Time confirms one thing we already knew about the Geordie DJ/producer.
That he harbours raw and unquestionable talent. Check it out.
Petit Beurre | Surya | Motech Records | 30 August
Featuring clear influence from Chicago, this promo piqued our interest on a first listen. The Austrian duo return to Motech with the second part of Vishva EP. Lose yourself in the warm swings and analog synth leads.
This track is sure to improve your mood - and we maybe even heal on a deeper level. Feeling under it? Put this on. It'll soothe your soul. Get better soon.
Boris Brejcha feat Ginger | Happinezz | Ultra Music | 18 August
After calls for him to play on Ibiza for years, Boris Brejcha walks away from the 2019 season with three appearances under his belt. Therefore, it seems only fair that he provide us with a sweet side order of a smash summer release.
Encapsulating his experimental style, the track Happinezz is a minimal masterpiece and has the potential to be one of the defining tracks of summer.
Christian Smith | Air Castle (Laurent Garnier Remix) | Tronic | 19 August
That man Laurent Garnier again. Don't hear any new material for him in a while, and suddenly he pops up with two in as many months. This time he's on remix duties. If ambience is your cup of tea, then be sure to check out this electronic paragon and rework of the 2016 track Air Castle.
This new version of the track has caught my ear across various parties throughout the month. Christian Smith's record label and party series - Tronic - continues to fly the flag for techno in San Antonio on Wednesdays at Eden. The closing party is this week.
The Temper Trap | Sweet Disposition (Cristoph Remix) | Infectious Music | 23 August
Whilst I'll admit I'm usually a stickler for the original, this edit of the 2008 hit Sweet Disposition stole my heart when played by Cristoph both this season and last. Now the track has finally got an official release, DJs across Ibiza are showing it the love and attention it deserves.
Head to BODYWORKS on Tueday 10 September to catch the man in action. Though even his former colleagues CamelPhat have been showing this love throughout the campaign. We just need Undercatt's remix to get an official release now.
ANNA & Kittin | Forever Ravers | Kompakt | 30 August
ANNA debuted on Kompakt boundary-pushing Speicher series only last year, but her effort that time was more than enough to warrant a spritely return. For this latest installment, she hooks up in the studio with fellow leading lady Kittin.
The result - Forever Ravers - is a poignant tribute to late Prodigy frontman, Keith Flint. We can definitely hear the influence of the seminal UK rave act.
We miss you Keith. But your legacy to electronic music will last forever.
Fabio Florido | Twilight | Kuukou | 23 August
Can you ever really get tired of techno? The answer is no. Especially when awesome tracks come out to play that will leave you dancing until sunrise with your hands in the air.
Created by the PLAYdifferently MODEL 1 ambassador, Fabio Florido, Twilight fluctuates between spacey tech and acid layers, making for an eclectic journey through its multiple builds and drops. Catch him at Richie Hawtin's RESISTANCE takeover on 10 September.
East End Dubs | bRave | FUSE Records | 30 August
One of the most in-demand DJ/producers operating in the underground scene, East End Dubs has proved with this release that he really is the gift that keeps on giving. This one has been hammered by Jamie Jones and the like all summer, landing with huge momentum behind it.
Having played in Amnesia's terrace, DC-10's club room, Octan's basement and at Benimussa Park, EED has wowed plenty of crowds this summer. Take a listen to his killer beat bRave, you won't be disappointed. Let hope we see him pop-up during closing party season.
