Preview: Carl Cox 2012

The Revolution is back, with recruits, to give Tuesdays a good seeing to.

For 2011 Carl Cox celebrated his 10 year anniversary of parties at Space with his 'Revolution', now for 2012 the revolution continues but with 'Revolution The Recruits'. A competition was launched a while ago where four people could win guest spots at one of Coxy's parties this summer, with the intention of kick-starting their career. Those people were Alex Ryuk, Andrea D Niro (presumably no direct relation of Robert), Anwar and Mike Bites.

The opening will surely be one of the best parties of the season with a typical huge lineup, highlights will obviously be Carl Cox and Nicole Moudaber whilst resident Nic Fanciulli has been smashing it of late, and you can catch him another three times over the course of the season. Resident Yousef won't be about for the opening, not least in any official capacity anyway, but will be playing five times over the course of the season, topping it all off with the disgustingly massive closing party. More on that bad boy in a minute.

Many of the lineups have the usual smattering of artists of the Safehouse Management roster, the agency run by Lynn Cosgrave, such as Coxy, Yousef, Digweed, Just Be, Umek and more. All of whom have played several times over the last few years, so it's fantastic to see so many other artists representing their sound this year. Those I'm really looking forward to have to be Heidi who was fantastic at We Love recently, Dyed Soundorom who's looking fresh off the back of his Apollonia label launch, Ben Sims because he knows how to destroy a dancefloor with some proper proper Techno, Josh Wink as I missed him at his recent Ovum party at Space, Andy C on account of how rare it is to hear decent drum 'n' bass on the island, Monika Kruse because she was amazing in 2011 and is another girl to be rocking cool hair (Heidi!), Fatboy Slim as he always plays proper party tunes, Just Be to check out all the good things I've heard about the Layo'less Bushwacka of late, Green Velvet in the vain hope someone gives him a mic, Laurent Garnier as L.B.S because it's Laurent Garnier as L.B.S. and Christian Varela so I can see him outside of his really cool San An Pornographic parties and therefore less the distraction the shows there provide.

The Carl Cox closing is always one of, if not the, best parties of the season. Certainly one of my facourite closings. The group of Cox, Dice, Sneak, tINI and Yousef is a dream lineup for any event, with Yousef and Sneak absolutely owning the Terrace in 2011. It's another one of those parties that makes me want it to be September already, and considering the quality of parties we have coming up at Space on Tuesday before then, that's saying something. And now I shall finish with the obligatory "oh yes! oh yes!" Coxy shout. Can. Not. Wait!
