Although Ibiza Live wouldn't necessarily be my party of choice I can't ignore the fact that they have managed to bring some super class stars to the intimate stage of Eden this season. The like of Jessie J, Example, Labrinth, Dizzie Rascal, Rizzle Kicks and Tinie Tempah have all partied on down San An style thanks to the popular night; but what line-up really appealed to me was last night's which featured the one, the only Rev Run of Run DMC.
Being a fan of Run DMC themselves and not only of their numerous hits - my personal fave being their collaboration with Aerosmith for 'Walk This way', but also holding my hands up to occasionally indulging in Rev Run's personal reality TV show on MTV - 'Run's house', I had to check out the legend's performance. Arriving a bit earlier to get into the party spirit I was pleasantly surprised by the crowd which greeted me; it may be August but with the majority of the San An crowd being 18-25 year old house music fans I wasn't expecting a flock of avid Rev Run fans but it seemed that I was wrong.
As chart classics such as LMFAO's 'Party Rock Anthem' blasted through the speakers, Ibiza Live resident DJ, Andi Durrant hyped up the crowd in preparation for the Reverend's arrival. Seriously wondering where the man would perform I paced between the front and back stages as the crowd partied on and continued to carry out their best interpretation of dance-moves as seen on the TV series 'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding'. With a lot of soul, passion and windy hips the crowd grinded their way through the night right up until DJ Ruckas entered the booth.
DJ Ruckas attacked his vinyl stash like I have never seen anyone do before, performing his best record scratch to an adoring crowd making way for the headliners anticipated arrival. Then the moment had come for Rev Run to join the excitable DJ and boy did he make an entrance; shouting 'Party people let me see your hands' and then going into Run DMC hit 'It's Tricky' definitely made the crowd go c-razy! With a firey energy engulfing the DJ Booth Rev Run alongside his DJ side-kick Ruckas continued to belt out hit after hit with tracks like 'Jump on it' - Sir Mix-a-lot and even Frank Sinatra's 'New York, New York' getting a play... how diverse.
There was no denying that the crowd loved the Ibiza Live experience with their arms waving frantically around in the air and with a constant hip hop bounce circulating the room from start to finish. Ibiza Live had a great holiday vibe to it and there were plenty of happy tourists enjoying the tunes from wall to wall.
