This news story has been circulating around the internet for a few hours now, and it makes for interesting reading. We should thank Zack O'Malley Greenburg from Forbes for researching this Top 10 World's Highest Paid DJ's list. What do you all think of it? You can read the full article HERE. Whatever you do, don't tell DJ Sneak, he'll go crazy over Twitter about this...
Tiesto
Tiesto recently made a big move from Privilege to Pacha Mondays, no doubt receiving a lovely pay packet to boot. The guy has made big steps in the producing world though, outside of dance music too. But he is of course most widely known for his trance days, of which there are few of now, which is a shame. Pulls in 18,059,800€ for his efforts.
Skrillex
Has managed to single-handedly destroy 'dubstep', OR redefine it for the better. You decide, but we know which side of the fence we stand on. Music aside he is sporting what is widely recognised as the worst haircut in the history of man, something he copied off all the Ibiza workers last year. SO last year mate. Anyway, he's been paid 12,310,500€.
Swedish House Mafia
Grab the tissues SHM fans, they are on their last tour of shows as a threesome (keep it clean folks), so you can catch them on Wednesdays at Ushuaïa, although be sure to check the lineups as they aren't all always playing the same dates. They bring in a not too shabby 11,491,200€ between the three of them, which isn't showing off too much.
David Guetta
One of the most recognisable faces in Ibiza, and the world, in the dance/pop music world at least. You either adore him or detest all he stands for with all the collaborations he does, regardless he is considered a gentleman. So it's all good. Quite surprising he 'only' gets 11,080,800€ really, considering his commercial success as a DJ and the F**k Me I'm Famous brand. Still, he's probably not struggling to put food on the table is he?
Steve Aoki
Stevie is the DJ equivalent of a rockstar. The two things most know about him are that he likes to stage dive, and his rider is utterly ridiculous. Although now I think about it, I would also refuse to play a set without my compulsory rubber dingie and 6 spare pairs of underwear. Preparing for every eventuality is the key to success here it seems - even if that is a flash flood or pooing yourself mid-set. He has taken 9,849,600€ in a year for all this, plus the profits from the sale of all his dingie's on eBay.
Deadmau5
The Mau5 is alive, kicking, and filthy rich! Often playing with an undoubtedly impressive stage show with his now famous LED helmet, Cream had the pelasure of seeing his performance a the start of the season in Amnesia, whilst you can also catch him at Ushuaïa this season too. He gets a whopping 9,442,650€ to spend on cheese though, which must be nice for him.
DJ Pauly D
This is what every DJ aspires to be - warming up for a Britney Spears concert and then having her rub her body all over him. No amunt of scrubbing in the shower is going to get rid of that, mate. Fair play though for turning a comical (but admitedly entertaining...) career in reality TV, essentially getting drunk and having sex, in to a lucrative DJ career. A guido's never had so much money to spend GTL'ing - 9,029,900€! Yeahhhh buddy!
Kaskade
I know nothing about this guy. Aren't there various other Kaskade and Cascade's in the world too? Anyway, word on the street is that America thinks he's great, so great in fact that some people think it's justified to give him 8,209,000€ each year. Does anyone know if that's good value for money or not?
Afrojack
Big time DJ, producing some hugely popular tracks, and performing the world over. But really, most well known for being the DJ that used to sleep with Paris Hilton. So, maybe, perhaps, we can blame him for her surges into the world of DJ'ing? Despite not having an afro, dissapointingly, he has earnt 7,389,900€ in the last 12 months.
Avicii
Created the monster track 'levels', then played it backwards and made loads more money again... people can't deny he's business savy, that's for sure. Or sneeky, whichever. He's currently bossing his way through some Sunday parties at Ushuaïa and has a very healthy bank balance, boosted by around 5,747,700€ in 12 months.
