First off though...Cocoon and confirmation that all the usual suspects (Sven, Ricardo, Loco Dice, Luciano) will be back for a mouth watering roster, albeit Richie Hawtin and M-nus only appear twice. That said, the booking of Reboot, Sneak and Nick Curly proves that the masters of the Monday night roadblock are determined to bring back the funk to the techno scene. (See calendar for full listings).
Hawtin will, however, be headlining the International Music Summit Grand Finale, taking place in the spectacular location of Baluard de Santa Lucía in Dalt Vila, overlooking the whole of Ibiza Town and harbour. Basement Jaxx also star in this event, which will bring to a close this 2nd edition of the IMS. More news of the dance music business talking shop nearer the time.
We also recently confirmed that Tiesto will start from 8th June, which, along with the adorable Swedish House Mafia at Pacha - who will be taking you on a journey through 'The Dark Forest' - means Monday night is easily the biggest party night on the island.
Amnesia seems omnipresent in nearly all gossip at the moment; not content with pinching Roger Sanchez and La Troya, they have now added Matinée on Saturdays, who join after 8 years of the iconic Ibiza gay friendly party at Space. But the Amnesia megalomania doesn't end there, as a special anniversary event they are planning in August, seemingly coordinated to clash with Space's 20th Birthday event, will feature one of the UK's most celebrated dance acts. At this point I’d love to tell you who it is, but then I’d not be around to see the event myself as I’m sworn to secrecy. But, come on, UK dance act, there’s not too many to guess from is there??!!
Meanwhile, in San Antonio, Jason Bull and partners from Linekers intend to make Boho, located in the old Extasis club, the new place to be seen. They have already secured Superfreq to play alternate Thursdays from the start of June and parties such as Kidology and Swankys are also on board. That should spice up the San An scene up a bit!
Last mention on the party front to the We Love gang. Nothing official as of yet, but the spotlight spies have been out and your favourite Sunday party will of course be back rocking it in 2009 and you can expect jocks in the order of DJ Pierre, Slam, James Zabiela, Steve Lawler and the awesome Ben Watt amongst the cast of thousands. I'll bet you a vodka limon that the Chems return too!
The last word this month goes to dc10. Amid rumours that dc10 was to open a club in Barcelona, we feel it our duty to inform everyone that this venture is absolutely nothing to do with the Ibiza success story. It has transpired that some generous soul decided to cash in on a business they had nothing to do with and registered ‘dc10’ as a brand in Spain, giving them sole right to use it for things like, for example, opening other clubs of the same name. Sadly this means practically anything you see linked to the name dc10 is questionable at best, downright (legal) theft at worst. We're even too scared to use the logo, so here's another kind of dc10 ready to take off for the new season. Spread the word people, see ya!
Dc10 taking off or landing??
