Thursday 3 July was the day that Danny Tenaglia returned to Space for his first ever Ibiza residency, and after two successful parties at the end of 2007, we made our way to see him with high expectations.
For a man that has been such an influence in the dance scene, it´s a surprise that he has never held his own party in Ibiza. But Tenaglia is no stranger to the party island of the world, and is a firm favourite here, and particularly at Space.
So would the combination of one of the best clubs in world and a dj legend provide the party we were hoping for.
In a word ... yes !
Drawing in a mixed crowd of cosmopolitan clubbers, made up of mostly Spanish, Italians and of course the English, Space was definitely busy on Thursday.
With the party starting at 18:00, and going on right through to 06:00, there was plenty of time to check out the tunes on the sunset terrace, where Tenaglia himself played a light set for the final hour.
But it was inside the new terrace where the action was set to take place late on.
Despite Tenaglia being the main draw, this party is also a showcase for Wally Lopez – the biggest dj and producer to come out of Spain.
Wally Lopez is also a weekly host for Be @Space and did a perfect job in building up the crowd in the terrace, before Tenaglia took the decks. When the time came at 02:30, the atmosphere was electric and Tengalia took to the stage raring to go.
This is man who clearly has a love for music and the crowd, always wearing a smile and having a blast with his fans.
Starting with some tribal tunes and slowly moving to some good old fashioned house music, the music was just as contagious as watching Tenaglia bouncing around inside the dj box.
As far as opening parties go, Be @ Space was one to remember and if this was anything to go by, then Thursdays at Space are going to be hard to beat.
Danny Tenaglia will soon be releasing his first album for 6 years, a double cd compilation album called ´Futurism´. We hope to be speaking to Tenaglia about his new album, and Ibiza residency, soon.
