Record numbers of tourists visited Ibiza in 2016

This summer, 7.1 million visitors descended on the White Isle.

For those of you who came to Ibiza during summer 2016, this will come as no surprise, but as according to figures reported by our friends over at Diario de Ibiza, a whopping 7.1 million people visited the White Isle this year. Crikey Sheila, that's a whole lot of head boppers.

That's a 14.6% increase on last year's figures, and just goes to show that our beautiful Balearic paradise is as popular as ever, with tourists and clubbers arriving in their droves, ready to soak up some of the island's sunshiny goodness and exceptional electronic music scene.

2016 was a big year for the island (read clubbing boss, Stivi's, end of year review here, and Team Spotlight's best moments, here), with Space closing its doors for the final time, and Pacha being sold for an eye-watering 300 million euros.

There's much to look back on fondly from this summer, but as we near the end of the year and 2017 looms on the horizon, it's good to know that Ibiza's tourism trade is looking bigger and better than ever. You lot know a good thing when you see it, eh?
