Review: W.A.R! opening at Ibiza Rocks, 2015

The highly motivated dance floor was the main protagonist at the opening of W.A.R! 2015.

We Are Rockstars, also known as W.A.R!, made an impressive return to its summer house this 5th June just past and Spotlight didn't want to miss it. The Ibiza Rocks Hotel, which is hosting the British party for the fourth year in a row, celebrated an opening party where a highly motivated dancefloor was the main protagonist.

When we crossed around the iconic hotel's pool, the people were still walking in and getting close to the stage while Fono was playing his first beats. The young producer offered a one hour DJ set which warmed up the booth and made the people jump, singing and dance to the rhythms of his particular mainstream/house sounds, throwing in a few classic like Booka Shade In White Rooms. Besides other tracks like a fantastic remix of Afrojack's biggy Polkadots, we could hear his debut single Real Joy, which is in line to become the new summer season hit.

After him it was Mistajam's turn who, with the big scream “who's ready to party?”, jumped to the stage ready to make the people's bodies move. His set, hit after hit, was a mix of an accurate selection of tracks which came from Bob Marley's One Love to the mythic What They Say of Maya Jane Coles. The dancefloor, hands up, answered to the set with a surprising energy, all ready for the last performance of the night by the hand of Wilkinson.

The British artist promised to be the highlight of the night and that's what he proved. Besides the beggining of his set which was a little bit soft for the public's state of mind post-Mistajam madness, he changed quickly to heavier drum and bass sounds with some jungle tints playing tracks like Voodoo People of The Prodigy which make the dancefloor tumble again. Although he also bet for some themes of his own harvest like the famous Need To Know which was singing by the public.

When the clock struck midnight, most of the people moved to Sankeys to attend the partner party, Shelter, which received the visit of artist such as Justin Martin, Jesse Rose, B. Traits and Doorly, but the Ibiza Rocks Hotel stage closed its doors momentarily until next Tuesday with the Colada Club Opening Party.

W.A.R! will be breaking the hotel into bits every Friday afternoon for 16 weeks and last night was just a taste of what they are preparing for the new season.
