Review: Space opening fiesta, 2015

More than opening party, Space Ibiza offered an authentic music festival where the people couldn’t stop dancing all night.

It was only 16:30 in the afternoon and Space Ibiza was opening its doors to the people who wanted to enjoy the sun and the blue sky on its amazing terrace. After all the problems with the date, the club was ready as ever for a day-night party that was the trigger to the starting season, being one of the most expected openings on the island.

The first beats were Wally Lopez's responsibility, the Spanish DJ, characterised for his fresh sounds and house music, was the first one to warm the Fight Club area's DJ booth while people were still entering in the club. Followed by Michel Cleis, these two first performances were the starting point to the first official Space night of the summer, backdropped with a beautiful setting sun and an amazing public getting ready.

Around 20:00 o'clock, Sasha took over the command while the sky was turning darker and the music harder. Techno tracks like Epika by Guy Mantzur and Roy Rosenfeld or On My Own by Rebel One put a bit of the acid into the night and the open-air area of Space started to be really crowded.

While Sasha kept doing his thing on the Fight Club, the artists from El Row were doing theirs in the Sunset Terrace, which they were captaining all night. Starting with a back-to-back between Mario Biani and George Privatti, El Row presented his crazy party and performances with happy house music and a really full dancefloor when the turn of Marc Maya came. A perfect representation of what they will be doing during all the season every Saturday at Space.

Luciano was on charge to put the final point to the opened air area until past midnight when the Fight Club closed and he moved inside to the Terrace for another amazing and strong set. Before him, in the same stage, Groove Amanda had driven people crazy on the dancefloor for two hours, becoming the most crowded set of the night.

In the main room, the star dish was Technasia and Pleasurekraft's back-to-back. Three hours of techno music with killer tracks like Orange Grove's Ready For It, Cosmic Happiness by Damian J Zagorny or Keep a Movin by Tiger Stripes among others.

Though it was getting late, people were still streaming into the club. The sunrise was coming and, even though we were so tired, no one could miss one of the highlight moments of the night: Los Suruba, Ushuaïa's devoted, were playing all at once during a DJ set that never slowed down the rhythm with dark beats that made us freak out with the starting light that was appearing outside. The Spanish Edu Imbernon joined them in the DJ booth to end the night as the public deserved, welcoming the new day and commemorating Space, one of the most emblematic clubs of Ibiza.

Despite all the issues with the last minute date change and the artist booking problems that must have ensued, Space knew how to make a memorable opening party: six stages, more than thirty DJs, different genres of music and a demonstration of the music and fun and they have been reserving during the winter.
