Ibiza Soundtrack: July 2014

The top ten tracks floating around Ibiza clubbing airwaves this month.

Hinz & Ruhmhardt

'Doch'

A big one on the techno circuit, this brooding number has been sent out to the masses via Pan Pot in Amnesia, Maceo Plex at ENTER.Sake, Davide Squillace in the Discoteca at Carl Cox and many more. It's all about the epic slow build - a track to lose yourself in brought to you by two German producers on the rise.

Teenage Mutants & Purple Disco Machine

'The Path'

Well sure, the bass line's catchy enough, but it's the chirpy flute riff of this Suara summer hit that sneaks into your head and takes root for days on end. The Path is getting rinsed at Suara nights at BOOOM of course, by Claptone in particular, but we've also caught this one over at Sankeys for Viva Warriors.

Kölsch

'Cassiopeia'

I think we can expect a Kölsch original to reach anthemic status every summer these days! The Danish producer has been doing great things for years, but has really made a name for himself in Ibiza recently. We've caught this romantic piano and violin concoction at Kolsch gigs at Ushuaïa, Space and support from Doorly at Ibiza Rocks.

Jonas Rathsman

'I Hope I'm Wrong'

Rathsman has been getting a lot of love on the Radio 1 playlist this summer, and this track has found its way onto the island via one Annie Mac - no surprises there! She's dropped it at major events like Space 25th birthday and Cream Radio 1 at Privilege, whilst the track's producer Jonas Rathsman has of course spread the love during his gig at Duke Dumont parties at Sankeys.

Oliver $ & Jimi Jules

'Pushing On'

Always a powerful force on the Ibiza music scene, Defected have been pushing this one heavily and it's taken off in a big way. With each an every Defected Tuesday party at BOOOM still a sellout, music heard here filters out very quickly and we've recently heard this one at Cream too.

Danny Daze

'Flange'

The latest release from his label Ellum Audio, Maceo Plex has been pushing this one in almost every set he plays, at both Space for ENTER and DC10 for Circo Loco. It's just been released a few days ago so we can now expect this dark and grizzly tune to spread like wildfire beyond the Ellum family.

Sidney Charles

'Going Down'

Jaymo and Andy George's label is a great place to find a choice selection of upbeat, bouncy numbers like this latest cut from Sidney Charles. The boys have played it at their gigs out on the island, plus the tune has been picked up by the Tribal Sessions fambly over at Sankeys - a strong endorsement!

Gerd

'Still Believe'

Another Defected discovery, which we featured in our Top New Releases for May feature. As predicted, the tune has snowballed into quite the piano house anthem, getting love at Defected at BOOOM, Space birthday celebrations and many a beach bar along Ibiza's coast.

Sam Dungate

'Steel Drums' (Jonathan Ulysses remix)

Another summer, another steel drums success story. Something about this instrument says holidays and it seems Ibiza can't get enough of it. In this case we have Sam Dungate and Space resident Jonathan Ulysses to thank for this track which has aired at Space mostly, with a lot of support from San Antonio bars as well.

Dan Croll

'From Nowhere' (Ame remix)

Our pick of the bunch, this melodic re-working is another success story for the Innervisions crew, who churn out beautiful vocal led remixes like a Catholic family churns out babies. All of the Innervisions artists have been plugging this whereever they land, for example Amnesia and DC10, whilst it's also been supported by the Flying Circus team at Sankeys and the Dynamic crew at Pacha and Destino.
