Spotlight is pleased as peaches to announce a massive competition for 2014. All you budding and bedroom DJs out there look sharp, because the opportunity of the summer is about to knock on your door.
In celebration of our fifteenth year as the island's number one website (and almost forty years as an island guide) Spotlight is hosting Space Ibiza's El Salon for four big dates over the season, as part of two of the best loved and longest running nights on the island, We Love Space Sundays and Carl Cox Tuesdays! We saw this not only as a chance to throw a great party, but to give our readers the opportunity to play a set in one of the most famous, best loved clubs not just in Ibiza but the entire world.
The Prize
There will be four lucky winners – one for each date – who will each receive the following for themselves plus one friend:
- Free return flights from any European city
- Three nights of free accommodation in Playa d'en Bossa
- Two phenomenal Ibiza DJ gigs in one day: a set on the Playa d'en Bossa Float Your Boat party in the afternoon and then a warm-up set at Space's El Salon at night for the Ibiza Spotlight takeovers.
- Party guestlists for your two nights off duty
How to Enter
To enter you must submit a forty-five minute mix to our Mixcloud competition page, tagging which of the four dates you are available for. Note that the more dates you can do the greater your chance of winning, but please only select dates you are 100% sure of your availability for.
- Upload a mix of 45 minutes to Mixcloud.
- Title the mix "Ibiza Spotlight 2014 DJ competition - Your DJ Name"
- Tag the mix: "Ibiza Spotlight 2014 DJ competition". If you fail to tag the mix correctly, your entry may be missed.
You must share your mix with your friends, family and fans, as the mixes with the most online support go through to the judging round.
- Use the competition cover-art provided HERE.
- Also, tag the mix with which of the four dates you are available - '29th of June', '27th of July', '19th of August' or '7th of September'. Note that the more dates you can do the greater your chance of winning, but please only select dates you are 100% sure of your availability for.

26/07 - 29.07 - gig day is Sunday the 27th of July
18/08 – 21/08 - gig day is Tuesday the 19th of August

Judging
This competition is judged in two stages. Once a mix is entered it is available to be shared and listened to by all. The more you can get the mix out there the better your chances, as the top twenty entrants with the most plays and likes will then go through to the next round.
The twenty most popular mixes will then be judged by the Spotlight team, in collaboration with Safehouse Management. Four DJs will be chosen as winners based on his or her mix– one for each date over the summer.
Important Details
- Technical setup is CDJs (CD or digital) on the boat and CDJs (CD or digital) or vinyl at Space.
- You cannot enter more than one mix.
- Music policy is House/Tech-House for the boat party and House/Disco/classics for the El Salon Spotlight takeovers at Space, so bear this in mind when creating your mix. Trance, hardcore Techno or Dubstep, for example, will not be considered.
- Exceptional mixes will be considered for the Spotlight podcast/mix series.
