Founded by Pepe Roselló in 1989, Space has been an iconic landmark of Playa d'en Bossa and Ibiza itself ever since. Like so many winning clubbing concepts Space was born in Ibiza, but in recent years has since spread its funtimes across the globe and now adds a new city to its reach. Any guess where? Clues: cold and vodka.
OK that was too easy - it's Moscow, Russia which is to be the fifth Space franchise in the world (after openings in Egypt, Menorca, Brazil and the planned opening in New York) and the first in Eastern Europe. The clubbing scene in Moscow has taken off in the past few years, and a generation of dance music lovers is more than ready to receive this musical slice of Ibiza; something tells me they will still want to make a trip to the sunny Mediterranean as well though!
Space Moscow will be opening late this year, located in the city centre near the International Trade Centre. The Russians like to do things large, and to that end the new club will be a 9000 square metre coliseum, divided into three levels with 18 bars, a main terrace, a VIP terrace and 3500 capacity dance floor.
