Ibiza Soundtrack: August 2013

10 great tunes the Spotlight clubbing team has raved to during this peak season month in Ibiza.

1. Dominik Eulberg

'Opel Tantra'

This Dominik Eulberg release came out on his Backslash EP and creates ultimate dance floor happy times. Sven Väth has given it lots of play at Cocoon Amnesia and also at his cameo in the Space discoteca for Richie Hawtin's ENTER.

2. Julian Jeweil

'Don't Think'

Another track smashing the Cocoon and ENTER stages, though Don't Think is a lot more heavy hitting. Jeweil has been signed to both Cocoon and PLUS 8 so it's no surprise Hawtin and Väth give him lots of play.

3. Fatboy Slim and Riva Starr

'Eat Sleep Rave Repeat'

It feels like an eon since Fatboy Slim released some original productions, and in the end it took a collaboration with Riva Starr to pull him out of studio hiatus. This strutting number has been heard right across the island, most memorably by Fatboy Slim himself at Sankeys for dirtybird, and to a packed out Amnesia terrace for Cream, via Calvin Harris.

4. wAFF

'Call on the Space Invada'z'

Although it was released last year, this Waff tune is enjoying a late bloom on the island, heavily aided by Loco Dice, who has knocked this out at Cocoon, Sankeys and of course his own night Usued + Abused at Ushuaïa. Alex Raphael has also dropped this out at Sankeys' Carnival Cities to great effect.

5. Jay Lumen

'Play Cool to the Old School'

Ibiza seems to be frothing over a whole heap of Jay Lumen at the moment, this particular track being a highlight. Heard at DC10 and Sankeys, this will get you strutting and neck popping in seconds.

6. Mirror People

'Kaleidescope' (Psychemagik remix)

Here's a gorgeous melody-focused track from Mirror People which is completely brought to life by Psychemagik, a UK duo that seems to have something of the Midas Touch when it comes to remixing. This one has been clocked at DC10 and Diynamic at Sankeys via Adriatique.

7. Gregor Tresher

'Nightcolors'

Gregor Tresher seems to be all over the techno scene like a rash this summer, this particular number being another Sven Väth favourite, but also getting widespread after party play.

8. Robert Capuano

'Vertigo'

Vertigo has been a hugely succesful Drumcode release, getting lots of support from the label head Adam Beyer and many of his techno disciples. This is very much a peak time and peak time only track!

9. Dusky

'Mr Man'

The Dusky duo are never far off another deep and beautiful release, with this latest offering already soundtracking many a sunset and beach bars session, with house mogul Darius Syrossian often flying the Dusky flag. As if it wasn't gorgeous enough, they've used the chords of Debussy's Claire de Lune for the breakdown... heavenly.

10. Egbert

'Straktrekken'

Richie Hawtin's been pushing this one wherever he goes, and that means it's cropped up at Amnesia, DC10, Ushuaïa and of course Space. Egbert is a relatively recent discovery by Gem Records and has an album on its way out within a month.
