Cafe Del Mar celebrates its 33rd Birthday

When you go down to the beach today...

"The idea captivated us from the beginning and we said yes with our eyes shut." Synonymous all over the world with Ibiza, a 'New Age' of clubbing, and fiery sunsets, some words from the Cafeé del Mar founders to reflect the positive spirit and way of life that the iconic beach bar represents to so many people.

This Thursday 20th of June at 8pm, Cafe Del Mar celebrates its 33rd Anniversary with a cake made from a special set - courtesy of Mark Knight and island legend Bruno from Ibiza - and a small army of devoted attendees. Perched on the rocky shores of the Mediterranean, the Cafe has become a modern mecca for those passionate about music and life itself. Whether it be the opulence of its sail-like verandas or the sound of its very own musical genre, Cafe Del Mar has carved a lifestyle and a philosophy all of its own.

The brainchild of Carlos Andrea and Jose Les, the cafe - with the best sunset view on the island - was designed by internationally renowned Catalanian architect Luis Guell. It was intended to reflect the look of a yacht - a vessel that could carry its passengers away from the rat race and into a glowing world of fine food, cocktails and relaxation. The Cafe has always danced; its annually released chill out compilations pioneered a genre and many artists rank it as one of their biggest influences.

Bruno from Ibiza and Cathy Battistessa will be taking you through the famous sunset session and after-dark Mark Knight will take control. Mark Knight is a house music legend with a towering stack of awards under his belt, his legacy matched only by the place in which he will be playing. Every man, woman and child on this island will find themselves drawn irresistibly towards Cafe Del Mar this Thursday. The Cafe Del Mar is an island treasure that perfectly represents the soul of Ibiza, it's not just the birthday of the Cafe, but a celebration of why we're all out here.
