Tunes of the month | February

Our favourite releases from January.

Right now in Europe, we might be in the midst of winter, but as we wave goodbye to January, we're feeling in a buoyant mood.

Announcement season is already underway, with the first pieces of news about summer starting to come through. If you've missed any, you can catch up on Ibiza 2022 clubbing news so far.

Best believe, there's more to come soon!

All we need now, is some winter warmers to put us properly in the mood. Here's our ten picks from the last month, featuring music from Arielle Free, Ramin Rezaie, DJ Minx and more.

Arielle Free & Mortimer feat Joe Killington | Soul Full | D4 D4NCE | 14 January

Part of the reason we're in such a summery mood is down to our first track. Early morning radio hostess Arielle Free is a beacon of positivity, who's upbeat attitude can turn the most stoney of dispositions. Her optimism permeates her debut production. Our soul is bursting. BUY HERE

Pete Tong & Goom Gum | Signal | Renaissance Records | 28 January

Our second entry and a second contribution by a DJ from Radio 1's roster, Pete Tong MBE. It's a rare example of a single where we love every version. But being that it's January, Tongy's Tulum Mix seems the most apt - especially since its where he first road tested the track. BUY HERE

Sara Fry | Toxic Love | RIM | 14 January

Having recently graced the mighty Saved Records, Sara Fry is a producer on the ascent. Taken from her Say It EP on RIM, as you might have guessed from the title, Toxic Love spawned from a messy break-up. BUY NOW

What works for Taylor Swift, can work for others too. Let's call it therapy. Get it off your chest, girl.

DJ Minx | Do It All Night (C2 Edit) | Planet E | 28 January

Next, Women On Wax owner DJ Minx marks the 30th anniversary of one of Detroit's biggest labels. Planet E supremo Carl Craig jumps on the remix here, but make sure you also check-out Honey Dijon's X-rated version. Move and jack to this sunk-back slice of House music.

Tini Gessler & Juliet Sikora | Tidy Up | Toolroom Trax | 21 January

After linking up last month on Kittball for Mandala Acid, Tini Gessler and Juliet Sikora get back in the studio. Tidy Up is groove-focused slab of Tech House calling out for the dancefloor. We make that a clean sweep! Tidy. BUY HERE

Ramin Rezaie | Take You | Silky Records | 26 January

The slickest member of the Solid Grooves entourage (in our book, at least!), Ramin Rezaie, is stepping out on his own. Silky Records launches with Take You. Skipping hats, wriggling basslines and hooky vocals are woven together on the single. Silky smooth! BUY HERE

ANNA | Journey To The Underworld | Afterlife | 21 January

Come with us on a Journey To The Underworld now. Techno sorceress ANNA is your tour guide, leading us through a valley of thundering drums and melodrama. Once again, the balance between emotion and intensity is finely poised. ANNA and Afterlife are a great fit. BUY NOW

Themba feat Thoko | Reflections (Black Coffee Remix) | Armada Music | 21 January

The sound of modern Africa next. Black Coffee remixes one of the standout tracks from compatriot Themba's recent album. Hï Ibiza's Saturday night host embellishes the original with his rousing interpretation. Just listen to those piano keys. BUY NOW

We think 2022 is going to be a huge year for music from the Motherland.

David Morales feat BLONDEWEARINGBLACK | What Can I Do? | DIRIDIM | 27 January

House music veteran David Morales is back with his first studio album in over a decade. Life Is A Song is the classic sound of House presented in a contemporary light. Our pick features Ibiza's own BLONDEWEARINGBLACK, who Morales previously worked with on 2018's Hideaway.

HAAi, Fred Again.. & Romy | Lights Out | Atlantic Records | 20 January

Fred again.. was responsible for arguably the biggest anthem of last year, as we emerged from lockdown. Now he's at it again, this time roping in Coconut Beats founder HAAi and The XX lead singer, Romy. It's the tracks turn in the final third that raises goosebumps. BUY NOW
