ONE brings the love of hip hop, soulful house and r'n'b poolside at O Beach Ibiza. One thing is for sure: this certainly isn't your usual Thursday afternoon at a beach club.
Landing on the shores of San Antonio, party host DJ Spoony was armed with the freshest urban sounds around. Joined by Grant Collins, Tom Crane and DJ Policy, O Beach Ibiza invited us all to unite as ONE for the love of music.
We checked it out this past Thursday and here's what we found.
The sparkling venue
O Beach itself has become a staple visit and destination venue for those visiting the island. As this was my first time there, I was instantly sold on the aesthetics of this beach club wonderland alone.
Decorated with vibrant flowers, beach parasols and disco balls, the pool area glistened in the beaming Mediterranean sun - pure lush.
Taking the party to another level were the sky-high acrobats performing on inflatable telephones to none-other than Drake's track Hotline Bling. A day at O Beach is more than a party, it's an experience.
O Beach boasts a stunning terrace above the decks where dancers enjoyed the uplifting beats of r'n'b from the comfort of the sun loungers and luxurious beds as the day turned into night.
I can certainly think of worse ways to spend my Thursday evenings watching the sunset, cider in hand and the sounds of soulful house beating right underneath my feet. Yes, please
The electric atmosphere
When we arrived, the pool area was already buzzing with summer vibes. Partygoers dressed to impress in flamboyant and daring outfits, covered in glitter from head to toe. The sense of occasion filled the air, as the dance floor jumped all day with hands held firmly high.
As we made our way through, the line-up of DJs had the dance floor electrified. The reminiscent sounds of old school hip hop and r'n'b took dancers on a trip back through the decades and sent their hips swinging.
Creating a space where friends and strangers can unite and unwind to urban beats is at the heart of O Beach's ONE parties. Each party has brought everyone of us together for the love of the music, the love of dancing and the thrill of what lies ahead for the summer of 2019.
The Ultimate Urban Sound
Grant Collins and Tom Crane are regular faces to the decks of O Beach. Both bring something a little different to get the party started.
It's fair to say that their playlists were on fire. Taking us through a whirlwind of r'n'b and hip-hop classics from top names such as The Notorious B.I.G and Chris Brown, it was impossible to not sing along.
Dropped by Grant Collins, Ja Rule and Ashanti's Always on Time is always a crowd pleaser.
The blazing heat of the Ibizan sun was not going to slow these dancers down, especially with DJ Spoony leading the party.
Celebrating his arrival with a mix of all the hottest urban sounds of 2015, he dropped the likes of Drake, Rihanna and Jason Derulo, complemented by live drums making it hard to say no. The unusual combination brought out San Antonio's tropical side with a modern twist.
The British garage DJ then dived into the archives of the where the origins of soul, hip hop and r'n'b derived from – Motown of course. There's no other sound like it.
We heard the sweet, soulful sounds of Luther Vandross, Jackson 5 and Diana Ross. No matter the language, everyone knew the lyrics to every song. Together we became ONE.
Next to share the love was DJ Policy, making his presence felt each and every Thursday, in his second summer residency at the venue. The crowd clearly love him there.
After unveiling the secret saxophone talents of DJ Spoony in the opening track, we then settled into DJ Policy's mix of garage and dance music.
We found this little electronica track hiding in between mixes: Big Fun (House of Virus Remix) - Inner City. Why just stick to one genre when you can blend multiple ones?
If the sounds of legendary hip hop and fresh garage beats are your vibe, there's only ONE place to be.
So throw on your best swimwear and join in the fun at San Antonio's open-air pool paradise every Thursday until 26 September.
