Blink and you missed it! That's certainly how summer 2018 feels. Wasn't it only yesterday we were discussing openings and looking forward to IMS?
In any case, August and September were great months for music on the island. Temperatures might be cooling slightly, but this time of year is a favourite amongst many for good reason.
The demographic shifts slightly from peak season, the parties get wilder and everyone from clubbers to DJs seem to bring their A-game. How many of these party tracks will still be doing the rounds over closing party season?
Robag Wruhme | Veddel Braav | Cocoon at Pacha
We are not convinced that Pacha has ever experienced a bassline as filthy as this before. Sven has really pushed the boundaries of what to expect musically under the cherries this summer with Cocoon.
In regards to Robag, he made a rare Ibiza appearance this month at Bedouin Presents Saga at HEART. His brand new album on DJ Koze's Tief & Hart is out now - so make sure to check it out.
Paul Woolford | Hang Up Your Hang Ups (CamelPhat Remix) | Eric Prydz at Hï
What do you do when the headline act is given doctor's orders to take some time off? Fortunately, Tuesday nights at Hï Ibiza had a ready-made replacement waiting in the wings in the form of CamelPhat.
The Scouse duo's remix of Paul Woolford has been doing the damage for weeks - and it was again a dance floor bomb when the two stepped up to fill Eric Prydz's boots.
Meanwhile, we are left waiting on their collab with fellow Tuesday night resident Cristoph - titled Breathe - to drop. Don't leave us hangin' guys.
Matthias Meyer & Ryan Davis | Love Letters From Sicily | Meraki at Beachouse
Not only an amazing track but also one that solved an office riddle. Having got some serious rotation on a colleague's phone all summer - it remained an untagged mystery... until recently. Matthias Meyer's latest production, out today on Watergate Records.
Highly appropriate, then, that it would be the pick from his own Meraki party, a truly dreamy, relaxed affair that opened our mind and soothed our soul.
The day-to-night party fused wellness with indulgence, proving that there are few places as good as Beachouse when it's kickin'. Dancing barefoot in the sand - who can say no to that?
Terr | Neuromancer (Krystal Klear Remix) | The Zoo Project at Benimussa Park
Along with DJ Koze and Purple Disco Machine, Krystal Klear is amongst frontrunners for 2018's Ibiza anthem for Neutron Dance. This, though, is the similarly titled but altogether bigger impact dance floor remix from the Irishman.
Absolute scenes when Dusky played this peak time in the Seal Pit at The Zoo Project. If you can get a fully-grown man wearing a polar bear costume to breakdance at the height of summer, you're a winner in our book.
Chris Wood & Christian Burkhardt | Bed & Butter (Einzelkind's Iceberg Slim Megamix) | Pyramid at Amnesia
Any track that gets the golden seal of approval from Ricky V is more than good enough for us. Mr Inconsistent has found a rich vein of consistency this summer. Whilst several observers feared for the Chilean in a post-Cocoon-Amnesia world, he's had his best season in years.
Villalobos getting weird and wonderful on Amnesia's Terrace is still one of the true clubbing rituals that remain. Now we look forward to that end date next week alongside a:rpia:r. See you on 24 September for Pyramid's closing.
Dalfie | Outlaw | Afterlife at Hï
Here's a favourite of Dixon and Sasha & John Digweed all season - and still working wonders on the dance floor. With ethereal tones, this spaced-out dance floor cut is still getting our feet moving.
Pan-Pot | Weltlinie | RESISTANCE at Privilege
Having missed their earlier RESISTANCE date because of thwarted travel plans, Pan-Pot more than made up for lost time when they landed in Ibiza for the penultimate show. It was difficult to pick out a favourite from a set blistering with stompers.
In the end, we decided to go with the most recent banger from their own Second State imprint.
Jan Blomqvist | Our Broken Mind Embassy | WooMooN Closing at Cova Santa
WooMooN's premature end to the season saw unassuming Jan Blomqvist and his band perform live. Playing lots of new material to one of the most discerning dance floors on the island, the three-piece played with transferrable emotion.
We couldn't think of a more fitting close to another storied season for WooMooN. There is just something incredibly satisfying about seeing trained musicians recite their music live. This hauntingly beautiful vocal and emotive electronica was our highlight, captivating the crowd.
Toto Chiavetta feat. Idd Azziz | Dzukulu | WILD at Ushuaïa
Some track selections are so of the moment and perfectly selected, giving credence to the notion that Ibiza really does showcase the very best DJs in the world. This is one such example.
Played by Black Coffee and Bedouin at MAAC and The Night League's charity fundraiser for wildlife conservation WILD, it evoked images of the motherland and herds running free on the plains.
Kariya | Let Me Love You For Tonight (Original House Club 12'' Mix) | Freddie Rocks Pikes
This month's token classic falls to the above. Andy Cato of Groove Armada playing this to a dance floor of moustached revellers at Pikes' biggest party of the year. The perfect choice, it's one that we are confident Freddie would approve.
We are now veering uncontrollably towards the finish line. May, June, July and August are but a memory. Whilst the sands of time seep through our fingers, we can take solace in the fact that September and October's closing parties often produce the best music of the whole season.
So throw caution to the wind and join us on the dance floor. We'll be back next month for our final round-up.
