Top new tracks September 2017

Sensory overload with September's slammers.

Kris Wadsworth / Holy / Breed Records / 26 September

Let's kick this hitlist off with a vicious blow to the kneecaps. For the gunners who believe that techno is best served in violent packaging, Berlin-based American DJ and producer Kris Wadsworth has the EP to suit your requirements. Released on his own imprint, Breed Records, it's loaded with three tracks – two of which Richie Hawtin played back-to-back in August – Holy is the first out the bunch. Barely giving you 20 seconds before the hammer cracks down and bass penetration begins. Get ready for those tremors.

Axefield / Ostrich Ride To Other / Atomnation / 8 September

Slow, consistent bumps. Is that how Ostrich's stroll through the passage of their lives? Add a few high and low synths and you might have a point there. But wait, what about the acid? It's all part of the greater Ostrich at large. Axefield's opening ode to the exotics is a lucid dream in which your answers are questioned by a tropical animal as the steady beat thumps on and the hypnotising synths make you swing left and right. As the filter flings the hallucinogenic Ostrich Ride To Other away, the palm trees turn into riverbeds and clear crystal dreams. Was this the other side? I don't know. You don't speak Ostrich either. All we know is that you should ride the darned thing by its wings. If you would have listened you would have heard.

Avision / That's My Sh*t / Beard Man / 15 September

As of 15 September, Avision's bumper bruiser could officially be your sh*t. Returning to Mark Broom's Beard Man imprint, it follows last year's EP Freak Zone. The New Yorker grew up around the booming club culture of his city, and at the age of 15 he had his own residency at Club Abyss in New Jersey. Carl Cox, Nicole Moudaber, Chris Liebing, Ben Sims and Joseph Capriati count themselves as fans of his work, and we can see this massive track sitting very nicely in their sets. Jack that groove, baby.

Maetrik / Cortex 11-B / Clash Lion Records / 29 September

Mosaic residency chief, Maceo Plex, has regained consciousness as Maetrik. It's an exciting year for creativity in Plex's camp, as in June he released his second album, Solar, on his recently-launched label, Lone Romantic. And a few months on he's landed with the first Maetrik material since 2012's Unleash The Beast EP. Cortex 11-B slams in from the first second, with deep, dark overtones leading the ride. Blistering experimental riffs scale this track, and you're left with you might just be left in a state of wicked distress.

Kölsch / In Bottles Feat. Aurora / Kompakt Records / 22 September

Here's our man Kölsch with a record that was saluted as the BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record In The World earlier in September by Mistajam. This deep house beauty features on his recently dropped album, 1989, which is the third and final chapter in his autobiographical album trilogy. We've already seen fans getting their rocks off to this at ANTS, and with three Ibiza dates to go, you'll no doubt hear this weapon again.

Nic Fanciulli Feat. Guy Gerber / The Perfect Crime / Saved Records / 1 September

We're packing in more Balearic heat with two of most-valued residents. We don't often see Gerber and Fanciulli on the same line-ups, and that's a damn shame as when in the studio, they know how to bang out hypnotic deep house material. This one screams of the summer, with euphoric, airborne touches that glisten throughout.

Toto Chiavetta / Analog Suite / Underground Mental Resurrection / 1 September

If you hadn't yet heard of Sicilian producer Toto Chiavetta, you're welcome. Returning to esteemed record label Innervisions, the LP from which this track was snatched was voted Juno Records' Album Of The Week earlier this month. If you listened to this and instantly thought of Dixon, you thought right as he laid this one down at Cocoon a few weeks back. This one deserves a slot in your collection.

Subb-An / Future Wise / Infuse / 11 September

Infuse, the Sub-label from Fuse London, has reached out to respected Berlin-based British producer Subb-an for a September slammer. The title tracks swings into motion with a skeletal roller, instilled with an acidic bassline that generates a tidy dosage of funk.

Siege / My Lady / ABODE Records / 22 September

To the basement demons who've struggled to tear themselves away from Sankeys during ABODE's takeovers – this one is for you. Belgian producer lands on ABODE's imprint with a brand-spanking new EP. Earning a reputation as being a dynamic mixer, with a flair for production, My Lady is no doubt a weapon among the party's residents. A bassline-heavy production spiked with melodic flickers, it feels like something we've heard before, yet it's as fresh as they come.

Cleric / Dualistic Soul / Soma Records / 11 September

Manchester producer Cleric makes his Soma debut with his Twenty Fourteen EP, and what an absolute arse-ripper this is. Not for the faint-hearted, as this is stamped with the kind of brutality that only diehard techno fans crave. Dualistic soul cranks up the tempo, taking the techno trial from him punishing rhythms into more melodic terrain. Welcome to Soma, Cleric.
