Fishing out the virgins

A very local event comes with the feast of the ‘Virgen del Carmen' on 16 July. a statue of this sainted virgin is carried through the streets by local fisherman, as she is their patron saint. The statue is then placed on a boat which is joined by a colourful display of floating vessels adorned with flags and flowers in the harbours of Ibiza Town, San Antonio and Formentera. Go for the colour and tradition.
