Hot Since 82 kicks off at Sol House rooftop

The house heavyweight gave the White Isle a proper sunset session to start Mixmag’s iconic series The Lab IBZ.

Around the White Isle, there are a multitude of different and distinct locations to enjoy a beautiful sunset. However, only from a few select sites you can watch the sun dive into the Mediterranean while also listening to some of the island's best beats curated by the world's most elite DJs. Sol House Ibiza's Rooftop Nine is one of those exclusive spots.

This year, Mixmag has teamed up with Coors Light for a special in The Lab series to be held on the White Isle from June 22 through July 9, and Rooftop Nine at the Sol House Hotel has been chosen as their venue of choice. Kicking off the series last night was British house producer Hot Since 82 promoting his new Labyrinth residency, held at Pacha every Friday until October 6.

When I arrived at the top of Rooftop Nine, I was immediately taken aback by its stunning panoramic views. On your right facing the east you could see the entirety of San Antonio Bay while on your left facing the west you could the sea glistening under the sunlight.

At this point, Hot Since 82 was already on the decks and had the guests knee deep in sound. The intimate crowd grooved together while the British DJ played decade old tracks like Skylark's vocal mix to A-Studio's S.O.S. The dancers, ordained with colorful tribal markings over their body helped keep the energy of the crowd at a high level.

The highlight of the session came towards the end of the set. As the sun slowly descended into the sea, painting the Ibiza sky with delicate shades of blue, pink and orange. Hot Since 82 played Armand Van Helden's classic U Don't Know Me, which had everyone on the rooftop smiling and singing together in bliss.

There's no doubt that Ibiza has the best clubs in the world, but sometimes it is those small intimate events that leave an unforgettable memory ingrained into your mind.
