The Christmas festivities on Ibiza draw to a close this week but this doesn't mean the party has to end. It's time to welcome back the age of peace and love at the San Antonio Flower Power Fiesta 2017.
This Saturday 7 January will see San Antonio explode in a riot of colour as the first Flower Power party of the year hits the town. The action kicks off in the marquee on Passeig de ses Fonts at 21 h where there will be music and dancing before the party spills out onto the streets. The whole town will be buzzing as hippies of all ages throw themselves into the action.
It's essential to don your most outrageous outfit to join in the fun. There will be Afro wigs, bell-bottom flares, flower hairbands and star-spangled shirts. Anything goes so whatever you do, don't hold back.
The bars and restaurants get in on the act too so you can sample one of the special Flower Power menus before dancing the night away to groovy tunes from the 60s and 70s.
The dressing up is not just for people either. There will be a hotly-fought competition for Best Hippie Car so you can expect a parade of colourful cars covered in flowers, balloons and all sorts of bright adornments.
The young ones get to take part in the fun of course with the ‘Be Happy Be Hippie' festival which kicks off in the marquee at 18.00 h followed by Party Planet at the Espai Jove Youth Centre on Calle Ramon y Cajal from 19.30 h for ages 12 to 21. The kids will love the opportunity to dress as hippies and join the party.
If you are making your way across from Ibiza Town you can take advantage of the special bus service with the last bus leaving San Antonio at 06.30 h. Ideal if you want to party all night!
It's going to be a fantastic evening full of free spirits in retro garb radiating positive vibes throughout the town. Embrace the hippie in you and head to San Antonio for an night of dancing under the stars. Go on now, give peace a chance.
